Thanks to a special collaboration with local fashion designer Nicholas Daley, Chelsea Football Club is celebrating Paul Canoville and his legacy in style with a limited-edition clothing range, launched today and directly benefiting our Foundation – both in terms of profit from the sales but also through the experiences that were provided to a group of young people involved with our Foundation through our schools partnership.
How were the young people involved?
Five lucky young people and staff chaperones from our partner school joined up with Chelsea Football Club, Copa90, designer Nicholas Daley and the Paul Canoville Foundation for a special photo shoot.
The young people experienced an exclusive “behind-the-scenes” insight into the world of content and product marketing, fashion, photography and football media production.
How did Tied Together come about?
Award-winning designer Daley is London-based and renowned for his fusion of cultural heritage and contemporary style. He, along with Canners, has deep Caribbean roots and their heritage forms the heart of this collaboration, highlighting the power of diversity and inclusion.
His latest curation, the Tied Together collection, features a 1980s-inspired terrace tracksuit jacket and a Pride of London scarf.
Designed in Daley’s signature style, the look draws on the kit Canoville memorably wore as part of a revered promotion-winning side. There is no doubt the description iconic can be applied to one of the most popular Chelsea shirts of all time, and the Tied Together collection updates the fashion for the next generation of change-makers, inspired by the Canoville story.
Supporting the Paul Canoville Foundation
Launched during Black History Month and available in the Chelsea Megastore at Stamford Bridge and via their online store, proceeds from the Tied Together collection will be donated to our Foundation, specifically our initiatives developed with United Learning, focusing on enhancing literacy, attendance, and promoting diversity, equality and inclusion in education.
Current Chelsea players are giving their backing to the project, with men’s team captain Reece James leading a line-up including Levi Colwill, Sam Kerr, Conor Gallagher, Kadeisha Buchanan and Zecira Musovic, as are fans such as Ellis Gilbert, who is one of the ambassadors for Chelsea FC’s Blue Creator Fund, and Felicia Pennant, who featured in their Caribbean Voices series marking the Windrush anniversary.
Celebrating culture and diversity
Speaking about the launch of his collection, Daley said: ‘Fashion has the unique ability to tell powerful stories and connect us with our heritage. Collaborating with Chelsea on this project has been an incredible journey, and I am honoured to pay homage to Paul Canoville through my designs.
‘Canoville’s legacy, marked by resilience and pioneering spirit, is a source of inspiration not only for me but for all who embrace this collection. Together, we celebrate diversity, culture, and the enduring impact of individuals who break barriers.’
