Paul Canoville Foundation Delivers Empowering Session on Allyship, Mental Health, and Player Care to Peterborough United Academy Scholars

The Paul Canoville Foundation recently brought a powerful educational session to the scholars of Peterborough United Academy, focusing on the crucial themes of Allyship, Mental Health, and Player Care. Delivered to players aged 15 to 18, the session was an inspiring blend of lived experience and actionable guidance.

Led by Foundation CEO Raphael Frascogna and Foundation Founder Paul Canoville — the first black player to represent Chelsea FC — the session provided young athletes with insights not only into the world of professional football, but into the personal challenges and societal pressures that often accompany it.

Organised by Peterborough United’s Head Club Safeguarding Officer Rachel Green and Head of Education Ben Seymour-Shove, the initiative underscores the club’s commitment to holistic player development. Through heartfelt stories and open dialogue, the Foundation leaders encouraged the young scholars to reflect on their roles within their teams and communities, highlighting how allyship and mental wellness are fundamental to both personal growth and team success.

Raphael Frascogna emphasized the Foundation’s mission: “We aim to ensure young players understand the power of their voices and the importance of supporting one another — not just as teammates, but as individuals navigating life’s complexities.”

This session, the second following a recent similar delivery at Kettering Town Football Club, is one of many ways The Paul Canoville Foundation is creating real impact with young people in the UK, preparing the next generation of athletes not just for the sport — but for life.
