Clyde Best OBE is a Bermudian former football player and one of the first black players in English football’s top division, scoring 47 goals as a striker for West Ham United between 1968 and 1976.
Paul looked up to Clyde as a pioneer of the game, and was therefore delighted to take part in a recent filming session for his upcoming documentary.
They discussed Paul’s memories of Clyde, his impact on football, Canners’ career, experiences of discrimination and his thoughts about Euro 2020.

Clyde Best was a good player, my dad was West Ham so we often went there and saw him. He was a unit back then and must have been a nightmare for defenders. I’d be interested to know how Clyde got picked up by WHU if anyone knows ? ..
